There has been an increase in domestic violence, rape, kidnapping, cybercrimes. Incidents that were unheard of some years back in our society now appear common. Things will eventually give when a people put instant gratification on the front burner.
Nigeria’s king of pranks, MC Macoplo and movie producer, Chigan Madu’s The Prank Movie is a commendable work of art.
The Prank Movie is a social enlightenment, a call to action. The producers have used the movie to warn us about the dangers around us, to be careful about where we go, who we meet and how we live. They have also cautioned us to get as much information as possible about any event before attending.
The Prank Movie is a form of alternative entertainment, the first of its kind in Nigeria. Pranks Nigeria, the production company has been making prank videos for about a decade. They have a catalogue of over 50 videos on Youtube. They are taking their craft a step further.
The production, which took about one month, was carefully done, as most of the victims in the movie did not know they were taking part in a movie. As it dawned on them that they were set up, they pleaded, struggled, yelled at their captors, until MC Makopolo came to the scene to confirm that it was only a prank.
The Prank Movie is now showing at SKY CINEMAS, Lagos. The producers are working on their next project. BLACKWASH will keep you informed.
