Before the 2020 Grammys, ‘Best Global Music Album’ was known as ‘Best World Music Album’ category. Grammy organisers informed that the name was changed to make the category more relevant, modern and inclusive.

Only Recording Academy voting members can determine who they can nominate or become winner in any Grammy Award category. Members are mostly music creators, including artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers whom the Academy had already chosen because of their expertise.
