Arrangements have been stepped up by Sokoto State Government to host a befitting National U-12, U-15 boys and girls handball championship.

This is as the state’s handball and adjourning basketball courts are wearing a new look.

The tournament, in its second edition, organised by the Handball Federation of Nigeria and bankrolled by the Sokoto state government is slated to hold from August 7 to 17, 2021, at the Giginya Stadium, Sokoto.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Usman Gorau, while inaugurating the Local Organizing Committee, for the youth fiesta, urged the Committee to redouble their effort for the task ahead.

He said the state is ready to do everything possible to make the tournament a success.

The Local Organising Committee will be co-chaired by one-time handball legend in the state, Mohammed Bello Bamat and Chairman, Sokoto state House of Assembly Committee on Youth and Sports, Honourable Abdullah Zakari Rabah.

The duo however assured the state government of a grandiose tournament that will surpass the last edition held in 2019.
